The following comprises a proposal to double bike capacity on early weekday service from Manhattan to Bay Ridge and Rockaway to 24 bikes in order to facilitate access to the network of bikeways spanning those destinations.

Benefits include increased ferry ridership and neighborhood tourism, and to draw down demand on a heavily-used Central Park. It would also facilitate participation in a sport extremely popular with the young professionals New York City relies on to maintain its standing as the world’s most competitive city.
